This backplate is designed to create low pressure in the ball pockets at the top of the backplate. When your exhaust opens, it rushes out and creates a low pressure behind it. As fresh fuel is drawn from the crankcase, these pockets are energized and draw fuel through the rear plate guides and into the crankcase guides. This is more effective at medium -> high RPM.
